Various scientists are conducting tests for eradicating diseases that occur due to old age. In next twenty to thirty years, scientists are planning to build up a rejuvenation technology to fight ageing in order to enhance the span of human life. This rejuvenation technology will be applied to middle-aged people to allow them to slow their aging by 20-30 years. Renowned Scientists like Aubrey De Grey have also claimed that the day is not far when average age of a human being would be about 1000 years.

De Grey, an expert on the biology of aging says that the main objective of his work is to find an effective remedy for the diseases that people suffer from as they get older. In case he fails to conclude his research before his time runs out, he has signed up to be cryogenically preserved.

Cryo-preserved individuals are not necessarily dead, it is a form of critical care. In this process, the body of legally dead individuals are cooled down with liquid nitrogen in order to stop physical decay. The hope is that scientific and technological developments will breathe life into them in the future and successfully instill youth and good health into to them again.

To date over 100 people have been cryo-preserved since 1967. Alcor, in Scottsdale, Arizona is known to be the largest of all cryonics organizations. The total expenditure of treatment will depend on whether you intend to preserve your entire body or want to preserve only your brain. While body preservation costs around $150,000, neuro-preservation costs a minimum of $80,000. It is said that Alcor has 79 cryopreserved patients of various age groups preserved, ranging from 20 to 99 years, including 37 family pets.
